Our Directors

Dan Simpson - North Geotechnics Director

Dan Simpson

Dan has over 25 years’ experience working in the geotechnical industry for geotechnical contractors, consultants and within his own consultancy. He has been responsible for detailed geotechnical design on a number of schemes across the UK, including the design of some of the largest reinforced fill structures in the UK; ground anchor design for the refurbishment of the world’s oldest transport suspension bridge; as well as numerous designs for piles and retaining walls for geotechnical contractors across the UK.

Dan has significantly contributed to the field of ground engineering through his committee work for British Standards Institute where he has been instrumental in developing two new chapters for reinforced fill structures and soil nailed structures into the Second Generation Eurocodes.

Dan is also an active committee member and past Chair of the Yorkshire Geotechnical Group.


Georgia De Sanctis - North Geotechnics Director

Georgia De Sanctis

Georgia has 13 years’ design consultancy experience across the UK and abroad. She has experience working on heavy civils design, as well as managing multidisciplinary projects. She is specialised in detailed design of foundations and retaining walls for highways, rail and site development projects. Georgia has experience designing and managing ground investigation and foundation design for integral bridges, footbridges, stormwater management schemes and pipelines.

Georgia is also an experienced project manager, and is versed in communicating with a wide audience, ensuring stakeholder engagement and a complete project end to end service. She can effectively manage and communicate project risk, and control project finances.

Georgia was 2023 Women in Construction and Engineering award finalist for Geotechnical Engineer of the Year.
